Calling All Delegates:
The only sure bet in Vegas is that IUE-CWA's Sixth Annual Division Conference will be exciting and informative.
This year the focus is on building strength through a more active and educated membership in our union. In this important mid-term election year, we will hear about how government policies have hurt the industrial sector and how our best hope for better contracts may reside within the ballot box.
We also will continue the debate on CWA's Resolution No. 1: Ready for the Future by having a frank and open discussion about the proposals put forth by the CWA Executive Board and others on how to restructure our union. Critical decisions about the union will be made at the CWA Convention and I encourage you to stay and participate.
We have one minor change to the Division Rules to allow for the election of an alternate representative on the CWA Defense Fund Oversight Committee, as required by CWA.
The Division also must begin charging a nominal fee for its always fun, always packed reception. As you know, budgets are tight. We know everyone enjoys the reception and we decided that a small fee to partially offset the expense was preferable to canceling the event.
I look forward to seeing you in July.
James D. Clark
