Wishes Come True for Special Member of Union Family in MD
Orlando, Fla.
Thanks to the generosity of her union brothers and sisters, Baltimore, Md. Local 130 member Leslie Lilly was able to make a dream come true for her mentally challenged daughter, Rhonda.
Shortly after she was widowed in 2004, Lilly learned that Rhonda, 38, had stage four colon cancer.
Despite an IQ of a seven-to-eleven year-old, Rhonda had been a hard worker at a sheltered workshop until she became ill. Her one wish was to go to Disney World.
Union donations were the only way to make that possible since the Make a Wish foundation only serves children.
"This trip had her eyes glowing," said Lilly. "The smile would not leave. It was an extremely enjoyable and memorable experience. We've been very fortunate and considerably blessed."
